How many mL of butt filler do the buttocks need?

In the practice of Dr. Thiago Perfeito (CRM-DF 23199), butt filler with body hyaluronic acid usually takes 30 to 90 mL in total: 30 mL (15 on each side) for smaller adjustments, 60 mL (30 on each side) for medium adjustments, and 90 mL (45 on each side) for larger projections. With buttock filler, the volume for your case can only be defined at the consultation.
How many mL for each goal?
The numbers below are Dr. Thiago's stated clinical practice — they do not come from the manufacturer's package insert or from a universal rule. They are meant to give you an order of magnitude before the consultation.
| Total volume | Per side | What it is usually for |
|---|---|---|
| 30 mL | 15 mL | Smaller adjustments |
| 60 mL | 30 mL | Medium adjustments |
| 90 mL | 45 mL | Larger projections |
The most common range, therefore, goes from 30 to 90 mL. Whether you fall in the middle of that interval, or at one of its ends, depends on what the examination shows.
How to read the volume "per side"
The buttocks have two sides, and the total volume is divided between them. When 60 mL is mentioned, for example, that generally means 30 mL on each side.
That division, however, is not always exactly equal. Almost every body has some asymmetry, and one side may need a little more product than the other for the final result to be balanced. That is why the table refers to volume per side as a reference, not as a recipe.
Why is there no standard volume?
It would be convenient to have a single number for everyone, but it does not exist. Two sets of buttocks that look alike in a photo may call for quite different volumes. The main reasons:
- Starting point: how much volume is lacking today, and where.
- Goal: more volume, a more lifted butt, or just refinement — each wish calls for its own design.
- Body structure: the width of the hips and the proportion with the waist and thighs change what looks natural on you.
- Skin quality: sagging skin supports volume less well; sometimes the plan includes a biostimulator.
- Previous products: anyone who has already received some material in the buttocks, especially PMMA, needs to say so, because it changes the plan.
mL or vials: which unit matters?
Many people arrive asking "how many vials" they will need. The unit that actually describes the treatment is the mL: it is the volume of product placed in the tissue that defines the result.
The vial (or syringe) is only the packaging, and the amount each one contains varies from product to product. For that reason, counting vials can hide large differences in volume between one treatment and another. With Dr. Thiago, you see the boxes being opened in front of you, and the lot labels stay in your chart — so there is a record of what was used.
And what do the studies say?
Published studies help show that the volume varies a great deal, but they do not say what yours is. Two examples cited on Dr. Thiago's website:
- In a series of 30 patients with UPmax in the buttocks, sponsored by the product's manufacturer, the average volume was 43.6 mL per patient, with up to 60 mL.
- In a review that brought together several studies with hyaluronic acid in the buttocks, the average reached about 207 mL.
The two papers followed different protocols, with different patients. The numbers do not add up and do not form a range to follow. The 30 to 90 mL used by Dr. Thiago are another reference — and, for you, what counts is the number that comes out of your consultation.
Do more mL mean a better result?
Not necessarily. Beautiful buttocks are buttocks in proportion to the rest of the body, and excess product can make the contour look artificial. Dr. Thiago's philosophy is one of naturalness, without exaggeration: the right volume is the smallest one that delivers the agreed goal.
It is also worth remembering that hyaluronic acid is absorbed little by little by the body. Planning a reasonable volume and maintaining the result over time usually makes more sense than trying to solve everything at once.
And for hip dips, how many mL are used?
For the lateral depressions of the hips there is no fixed reference number. The injection is localized and the volume is defined at the examination. Read more on the page about hip dip filler.
How does volume relate to price?
Volume is the main factor that positions the price within the range of the body hyaluronic acid cycle, from R$ 18,000 to R$ 55,000 (Brazilian reais). There is, however, no price per mL: what you pay for is the complete cycle planned for your case. The details are in butt filler cost, and the choice of product, in hyaluronic acid or biostimulator.
