BeforeAfterEach case is individual and results vary from person to person.
Hip dips are the depressions on the sides of the hips, between the pelvic bone and the top of the thigh. When they are bothersome, body hyaluronic acid injected in a localized way — hip dip filler — can soften the concavity, often in the same plan as butt filler. How much can be corrected, and whether it is worth including buttock filler, depends on your anatomy, examined in person.
What are hip dips?
Hip dips are the indentations that appear on the side of the body, just below the waist, between the hip bone and the upper part of the thigh. Instead of a continuous curve from the hip to the leg, the line forms a small "valley".
The first important point: hip dips are neither a defect nor a disease. They are a normal variation of anatomy, linked mainly to the shape of the pelvis, to the position where the muscles attach to the thigh bone, and to the way fat is distributed there. Some people have a well-marked depression; others have practically none, and that says nothing about health or fitness.
Why do some people have hip dips and others do not?
The cause is above all structural: the proportion of the pelvic bones, the point where the lateral hip muscles attach to the femur, and the thickness of the fat in that band. In some pelvises, that arrangement forms the concavity; in others, it barely shows.
Weight loss makes hip dips more visible, because the fat that softened the transition decreases. But it accentuates them, it does not create them: the bone and muscle structure underneath remains the same.
When does filler help?
If the depression bothers you, the resource used is body hyaluronic acid (UPmax, Sofiderm) in a localized injection. The idea is not to "erase" a feature of your body, but to fill the concavity so that the line between hip and thigh becomes more continuous.
A collagen biostimulator (Sculptra, Radiesse) does not play this role: it improves firmness and skin quality, but it does not fill an indentation. The difference between the two is explained in hyaluronic acid or biostimulator.
In general, filler tends to respond better when part of the depression comes from a lack of soft tissue — for example, after weight loss — and not only from the shape of the bone.
What are the limits of hip dip filler?
This is the part that needs to be said before any needle. Not every hip dip disappears completely. When the depression is caused mainly by bone — a wider pelvis, a more pronounced bony contour — filler softens and disguises it, but does not change the structure underneath. An injection does not alter bone.
There is also a limit of proportion: overfilling the side can leave the hips looking wide and artificial. The goal is a curve in harmony with the waist, the buttocks, and the thighs, not a silhouette that does not match your body.
For that reason, before any decision, the consultation serves to align what is realistic to expect in your case.
How many mL go into hip dips?
Here the honest answer is: there is no fixed number. The injection is localized and the volume depends on the depth and extent of the depression, on the right side and the left, and on whether or not the plan includes the buttocks.
Ready-made quantities do not work for everyone. For the buttocks, Dr. Thiago works with levels of 30, 60, and 90 mL in total — see how many mL — but hip dips do not have a level of their own: the volume is defined at the examination.
Hip dips alone or together with the buttocks?
Sometimes the only concern is the side of the hip. In other cases, the depression is part of a set: the buttock has lost projection and the side has sunk along with it. In that case, treating only the hip dips can leave the result unbalanced.
That is why, at the consultation, the hips, the buttocks, and the thighs are looked at together. The plan may include only the side, only the buttocks, or both.
How much does it cost to treat hip dips?
Correcting hip dips with hyaluronic acid is part of the body hyaluronic acid cycle, which with Dr. Thiago ranges from R$ 18,000 to R$ 55,000 (Brazilian reais), depending on the total amount of product in the plan. There is no separate price just for hip dips, nor a price per mL; the final quote comes out of the consultation. More details in butt filler cost.
What are the injection and the recovery like?
It is performed in the office, under local anesthesia. Light activities are usually allowed the same day; direct pressure on the area and weighted leg training are suspended for as long as your instructions define — the reference for each phase is in recovery. The product boxes are opened in front of you and the lot labels go into your chart. If any complication arises, follow-up is done personally by Dr. Thiago. The step-by-step is in recovery and the warning signs in safety.
How to prepare for the consultation
- Notice in which positions the depression bothers you most: standing, from the side, in certain clothes.
- Say whether you have lost weight recently.
- Report any product already injected into the hips or buttocks, especially PMMA.
- Check the CRM (Brazilian medical license) of whoever will be seeing you: Dr. Thiago Perfeito's is CRM-DF 23199. Other criteria are in how to choose a doctor.
The consultation takes place at Clínica INTI, in Lago Sul — see how to get there. For real buttock cases, see the before and after gallery; for the overview of the procedure, the complete guide.
